The seven types of lid holders (shichishufutaoki) are said to have been selected by Sen no Rikyu, "Firehouse"「火舎」, "Trivet"「五徳」, "Three leaves"「三葉」, "One person"「一閑人」, "Eira"「栄螺」, "Three dolls"「三人形」 and "crab"「蟹」.
Each of the seven lid holders has its own special treatment.
「ほやごとく みつばいっかん かにさざえ みつにんぎょうもに 七種なりけり」
