I had such a wonderful time learning about, preparing and savoring tea with Aya and her husband—they’re consummate experts in this important and beautiful Japanese art and it was such a pleasure to partake in it with them! They were very kind and informative, and I had a wonderful time with them. To anyone wondering whether to book this experience, I highly recommend it!
Wonderful experience that my daughter and I really enjoyed. The hosts were very kind. We were dressed up in kimonos and then taught the steps of the tea ceremony. The hosts were patient and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tea ceremony class if you are in Kyoto!
We had an amazing experience with Aya and her husband. We learned the basics of tea ceremony including the types of tea bowls, setting of the ceremony, and how to appreciate and manoeuvre the bowls. We even had hands-on experience on making the tea as well as receiving the tea. All this while wearing a kimono, complete with hair-do! Aya was willing to answer any questions we had, not just on tea ceremony but also about Kyoto and where to get quality green tea and souvenirs. Aya and her husband were warm and friendly. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who is visiting Kyoto!
What we’ll do
I have been learning tea ceremony since I was a child. Even after the age of 50, I am still being taught by teacher.When you participate in the tea ceremony,I will be prepared to answer your questions as much as possible. You can try to make Matcha by yourself,and you can wear old style separated -style Kimono (It style has made in Heian period) during your class.
If you come with friends and family, you can make the tea also taste it with each other.

*If you will be late 20min or more,we can not provide the class.This class is not refundable.
There are guests who are quite late sometimes. It is very annoying for other guests,so we can not provide service to guests who are late for some reason. Before you come to our class, please be sure to check the location and time carefully and make sure not to be late.
