When you come to Kyoto, it's a waste to just go sightseeing. Let's experience Japanese culture as well.
In Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, there are various modern and traditional things, and there are historical temples among modern buildings, and "Sakura" is there.
Sakura Japanese Culture Experience Class has various classes where you can experience Japanese culture.
Why don't you enjoy Japanese culture experience at "Sakura" in the center of sightseeing?
The tea ceremony is known throughout the world as a comprehensive Japanese art form.
It is a compilation of so many wonderful aspects of Japanese culture, such as flowers, vessels, axes, incense, and kimonos, all of which are integrated into one.
Many people may have many concerns such as not being comfortable sitting on the floor in a tea ceremony room, being embarrassed because they do not know the etiquette, or wondering if there are strict rules.
At Sakura Japanese Culture Experience Class, we keep the number of participants small, so even first-timers can participate without feeling stressed.
The history of tea ceremony and matcha, tea utensils, etiquette, and many other things change from season to season, so we will explain each time and answer your questions as much as possible.
Many of our students come to Kyoto every time they visit Japan or from their hometowns in Osaka or Kyoto because they do not have time to attend weekly practice or because there is no teacher nearby.
For those who say they are not comfortable sitting on the floor, we offer the experience in the taterei style (using a chair and table).
It is a moment in your busy daily life when you can sit down for a moment and reflect on your life.
When you make a cup of tea and face yourself, you may naturally become calmer.
and become aware of the beauty of Japan's four seasons.
Please come and experience the heart of the tea ceremony.
Kimono rental is not included, but we will introduce you to nearby stores.
Children under 10 years old are not allowed to participate.
Casual attire is acceptable.
Bare feet are not allowed, so please wear socks.
Kyoto Support Coupon can be used. (Please check in advance).
We look forward to seeing you there.
You can experience how to have tea at a tea ceremony and how to make tea.
Let's experience the tea ceremony while relaxing in a private charter on a special day.
Shortened course of 2.5 hours with Shokado bento, Koicha (thick tea) and main sweets, Usucha (thin tea) and dried sweets.
Full-course Kaiseki (chakaiseki, thick tea and main sweets, thin tea and dried sweets) takes 4.5 hours.
Ichirin-an is the teacher's home tea room located in the center of Kyoto city, a 4-minute walk from the main gate of Nijo Castle.
It is located within easy access from the Kyoto Imperial Palace and the Manga Museum.
The design and construction of the tea room was handled by Mr. Masaki Tachinaka of Yamasho, a tea room/sukiya architecture that has received acclaim overseas, including in France.
The tea garden was created by Mr. Akifumi Ikeuchi of Ikeuchi Japanese Garden Materials, who worked on the landscaping of the former Saga Imperial Palace Daikakuji Monzeki and Gio-ji Temple.
Bamboo is procured from Takehira Shoten, a long-established Takehira bamboo wholesaler in Kyoto.
For matcha tea bowls, we have a large selection of tea bowls from the Myoken kiln (Imaoka Myoken/Imaoka Miyako).
In the tea ceremony, the flowers and utensils change according to the season, and it is an important element to enjoy the sense of the season.
Sweets are served by long-established Kyoto sweets such as "Kyogashi Kamehiroyasu", "Kyogashi Tawaraya Yoshitomi", and "Nijo Wakasaya".
We use matcha from long-established Kyoto stores such as "Uji Marukyu Oyamaen", "Ryuouen Chaho", and "Ippodo Chaho".

The name "SAKURA" comes from the fact that Ihei Ito of Somei, Kamikomagome Village, Toshima County (Komagome, Toshima-ku, Tokyo), an ancestor of our president, Manabu Ito, was a developer of someiyoshino (someiyoshino) trees during the Edo period.
It is said that Tokugawa Yoshimune, the shogun of the time, personally visited "Kirishimaya Ihei" to buy azaleas and wisteria, and also enjoyed tea.
We opened "SAKURA" in the hope of providing tourists with authentic Japanese culture in Kyoto, the pride of Japan's tourist city.
We do not only offer a superficial experience of Japanese culture, but also a fun and wonderful experience for everyone, regardless of nationality, gender, age, or experience.
We hope that everyone, regardless of nationality, gender, age, or experience, will enjoy the experience and have a wonderful memory and a happy time.
